Coleman Portable Butane Stove : Great camping stove for all occasions: camping, boating, backyard, and emergencies back-up
This Coleman portable stove runs off butane instead of propane like many other camp stoves. Coleman 8.8 oz Butane Fuel works great. The canisters are a bit smaller and should last at least an hour on full flame/heat. One canister lasts for 5-6 total meals. One canister is about $3-$4.00. If you plan on using this stove a lot, then buy the large quantities available and the price per can will be lower. At Sam’s Club: 4 8.5-oz cartridges for $5.22.
The canister lays on its side and goes into the compartment directly behind the dial. It has a hinged door that hides it away and keeps it from being exposed. The unit is all-in-one, easy to move.
The nice thing about this stove is how easy it is to hook up the fuel. Just drop the butane canister in the slot and push down on a lever that locks it into place and pressurizes the system. Then just turn the knob past max till it clicks and the igniter sparks into the gas. It’s that easy and you’re cooking!
The adjustable burner gives precise temperature control, and a large base offers stability for easy stirring, which fits up to a 10-inch pan. If you heat up water for tea, it comes to a full, rolling boil. It takes about 5 minutes to get 5 or 6 cups of water to a boil on high heat. There is no odor from using the butane.
Coleman is a well-known name. They have been making products like this for a long time. Of all the different styles of camp stoves, this one should be one of the easiest and the safest to use.
The stove is very lightweight, comes in a nice plastic case which makes it great for storage. It is a plastic box with a handle like a mini briefcase.
